Urban sprawl is bad; intellectual sprawl is good

It’s behind a paywall obviously but I have a chapter in a recently published book:

Castro, E.E. (2026). Generative AI, Psychotherapy, and Secondary Education. In I. Katzarska-Miller, M. Jackson, and M. Fortner (Eds.) Integrating Generative AI in Psychology Courses (pp. 94–102). Society for the Teaching of Psychology. https://teachpsych.org/ebooks/genai

And my abstract:

This chapter presents an introductory psychology activity utilizing generative AI to explore psychotherapy techniques. Each student selected a disorder from the DSM-5-TR and was assigned a specific psychotherapy technique. They researched both using traditional in-class methods available to them on a personal computing device. Students experienced a realistic therapy session through AI simulation. Group discussions examined the advantages and disadvantages of AI-based telehealth. This activity introduces students to the intersection of technology and mental health treatment while encouraging critical evaluation. Student responses suggest engaging with AI can help develop a foundational understanding of psychotherapy techniques and AI’s potential impact on therapy.
