This may very well be the first time that I’ve been observed by a Math teacher. I was interested in hearing her perspective on how class flowed, but what caught her eye the most was the way students acted. I do not require that they raise their hands to ask questions; they self-regulate between each other if more than one has a question, or they just speak out, having waited for a natural pause in the flow of the story.
Collegial Observation by Elizabeth Alexander by Eric E Castro
We have scheduled time in March for me to drop in an observe her class, seeing how she organizes a review session in Math with her seniors. That should be instructive as I still feel that I don’t do review sessions well.
