For the Motivation/ Emotion Unit, I wanted to show a scene from scary movie and then have a discussion about how we feel about scary movies, and how we feel after scary movies. (I also wanted to extend the conversation a bit and talk about dating, and why emotional transfer happens when you do something thrilling with your date.) Here’s the clip:
For one class, I just showed the clip, and then we had the conversation. For the other class, I gave a bit of overview, then showed the class, and then had the conversation discussed above. That was a mistake. And I knew it was the wrong order.
I have got to, got to, got to remember: let students simply experience a psycho-social event, and then let them analyze it. I keep trampling on the experience! Dumb Eric. You know better.
