Each year, we are expected to select an area of our teaching that we wish to focus on improving; this year, with the introduction of a Block schedule (80-60-60) and student iPads, I’ve opted to focus on Class Management.
On Friday, the first day of the school year, class seemed to flow well, with each of the precious 40-minutes well accounted for. Monday, our first 80-minute period, I’m more worried about. There is some lecture to get through, some course logistics to go over, and then a potentially lengthy in-class activity that has the added wrinkle of involving a piece of first-time technology (students blogging from their iPads). Needless to say, Management will be important…
